samsung dishwasher error code 1E

One customer’s story: “I tried to reset the dishwasher by turning the breaker OFF for 15 minutes, but it didn’t help, error code was still there. Then, I called a service technician. He came to my house and diagnosed the dishwasher. He was not able to solve the problem on this visit, and recommended I replace the main control board on his next visit. The control board was replaced after a while, but it didn’t fix the problem. Any suggestions what else it could be?”

The story above is not uncommon. Having your Samsung dishwasher with error code 1E will give you a lot of headaches. First, you need to know whether you have a Waterwall model, or a Rotary model. On the Waterwall model, ‘1E’ indicates a clogged filter error. For a rotary model, the ‘HC 1E’ error indicates “high temperature heater error.”

But don’t worry we have a solution How to Fix Samsung dishwasher with 1E error.

For some Samsung dishwasher models, error code 1E can indicate different issues:

1. Dishwasher Temperature Sensor failure. This is may caused by:

  • Temperature Sensor Failure, when it’s not sending “proper readings” to the control board. And control board “thinks”, that the water in the dishwasher too hot.
  • Temperature sensor dirty and require cleaning. When a calcium build-up “wrap” sensor around, then the sensor unable to measure the temperature of the water and therefore will not send correct readings to the control board.
  • You may need to clean the temperature sensor first. If it will not help, just replace it. You can get one here:

2. Water not draining properly

This issue can be caused by :

A. Partially or completely clogged drain hose. This can occur under the sink side or on the drain pump side.

B. Jammed drain pump impeller ( motor not able to spin) and you can hear only humming sound coming from the pump, but not actual working sound.

C. Burnt Drain pump motor (needs to be replaced)

3. Water intake problem

This issue can be caused by :

A, Water inlet valve malfunctioned electrically or mechanically. Electrically = burnt valve coils. Mechanically = clogged by calcium build-up solenoid valve.

B. Water tap under the sink was shut off. (Open valve to ensure water flow)

How can i clear the samsung dishwasher error code 1E (waterwall models)?

On these models, 1E indicates water is not making it through the filter. To correct, clean the filter at the bottom of the dishwasher. Instructions for how to clean filter…

Drain Fine Filter Clogged

What it is: Inside your Samsung dishwasher, there’s a drain filter. This part is located towards the bottom of the appliance, where water pools before it’s removed through the drain hose.

The purpose of the drain filter is to catch any of the solid food bits once they’ve been washed off of your dishes. That way, none of it will be recirculated back throughout the dishwasher, and none of it will clog up the drain hose or your household plumbing.

How it fails: Over time, the drain filter will get saturated with food waste. The more waste builds up, the harder it will be for water to drain out of the appliance. If the filter is not cleaned and the buildup becomes worse, the dishwasher will fail to drain any water.

At that point, your Samsung dishwasher will begin displaying the relevant error codes, bringing your attention to the draining problem.

How to fix: Thankfully, fixing this is very straightforward. What you’ll need to do is remove the drain filter from the bottom of your dishwasher and clean it thoroughly.

Before you remove the filter, first remove as much of the waste buildup as possible. That will prevent the waste from clogging other parts of the drain system as you take out the filter.

Once the filter is cleaned, reinstall it the same way as before.
