If you’re experiencing the issue of your Samsung washer not spinning, then this article can help you to determine possible solutions to get your machine back in action.
We will describe 5 most common reasons why washer is not spinning or why it won’t finish the spin cycle – and how to fix it.
There are two types of washing machines: top-load and front-load.
Though both types of washers share some similar problems, each type also has its own unique culprits related to no spin.
Samsung Washer not spinning – possible solutions
Suspension Worn Out
If your top loading Samsung washing machine getting UE, UL or dC error code, it means there is an issue with the “Unbalanced Load”, so the washer drum is unable to spin.
This is sometimes caused when you have a large load in your washer that exceeds the limit.
But the most common issue is when the suspension, which supports the drum, needs to be adjusted or maybe even replaced.
When the suspension springs begin to wear out, they can no longer absorb the excessive vibration, and fail to stabilize the washing machine drum.
Shock Absorbers (Front Loading Machine Only)
There are 4 shock absorbers that hold the plastic drum, which help compensate for all the vibrations coming from the drum during the spin cycle.
Depending on how often washing machine been used, these shock absorbers can wear out and lose their effectiveness.
It’s easy to check whether they are worn out or not by pushing down on the drum by hand. When you quickly release it, the drum should set in the initial position immediately, without bouncing up and down.

Think of how shock absorbers work on a car. Without them, after driving over a bump, the car would continue to bounce up and down for several moments before smoothing out again. The same principle applies to a washer.
When Samsung washer shakes during the spin cycle, due to worn shock absorbers, it will vibrate much more severely and trigger a vibration sensor. This will tell the washer that something is wrong and stop the cycle.
After a moment or so, the washer will attempt to spin again. This process will either repeat indefinitely until the cycle is over, or it will shut off and give an error code on the display.
Drum Nut Loose
A top-load washer drum has a nut at the bottom, which keeps the drum in place.
Sometimes, the normal vibration over long periods of time can cause the nut to loosen. Once the nut loosens, your drum will start wobbling excessively, especially when the washer goes to its spin cycle.
Make sure the nut is tight enough to prevent excess wobbling.
Drain pump Failed
When the drain pump gets clogged or jammed, it’s unable to drain the water completely.
In this case, the washer will not go into the spin cycle. It will try to spin, but eventually, it will stop, and an error code will show up on the display.
Broken plastic bracket
This is the most common Samsung front-loading Washer VRT problem and is what usually causes the washer to get stuck during its spin cycle.
There is a bracket on the backside of the front-loading Samsung washer which holds the wiring harness to the drum.
When this bracket gets loose or broken, it can trigger the vibration sensor causing the machine timer to jump around. Sometimes it will add time (extending your spin cycle), and other times it will shorten the cycle.
Either way, this is bad news for your laundry load. Time on the spin cycle may jump back and forth many times. Eventually your washer will stop, but your clothes may still be soaking wet, negating the purpose of the spin cycle altogether.
You can fix it by zip-tying the bracket to the drum as is shown in the picture below.
Faulty door lock
Most Samsung washers have a door lock with a feedback feature. It’s a tiny switch inside the door lock.
When the door is physically closed, this switch is closed as well, providing feedback to the control board.
But when the door is closed and the feedback switch is not physically closed, then the control board is notified that the door is open, and it will not allow the washer to go into its spin cycle.
It will actually try to spin again and again, but eventually, it will stop completely, showing an error code on the display.
So, in this case, you just need a new door lock for your washing machine.

Hi Eugene,
I have top washer WA422PRHDWR/AA, when going to spin , down to minutes 7 (for low spin), the tub banging and then spin stop, clock go back 15 and start filling water again.
I checked the suspension, and the drum nut, looks ok. Not sure what else should I checked. Read you mentioned “when suspension, which holds the drum, needs some adjustments and even replacement” , how would we do adjustment? I put some oil to it and it looks good.
Thanks
The problem with Samsung washer suspension is that those spings becoming so soft and just bouncing more due to frequency of vibration, triggering vibration sensor. Then it fills with water again, trying to distribute load inside the drum, and the process continues .. Search videos on Youtube on how to fix this issue,
Washing clothes in Samsung front load washer. Saw what I thought was a oil mist and pop sound. Front load washer will spin but won’t full spin water out of clothes.
Hi,

Hi , i have one Samsung eco bubble 8kg and stop spinning very often when run the program. I discover if I press on one of the capacitors from the control board , is start working again , but when have to change the direction of the drum is stop again , but not all the time and I have to repeat the pressure again on that capacitors . I just buy a new control board and now is just stuck, it trying to move the drum few times ,then it stop. I check the motor inside also and look just fine to me , but just visual, I don’t have any electrical tools and the motor is a digital investor one . Please help with some advice. Thank you!!!!!
This is something weird, i have never heard about anything like that, that i need to press on the capacitor to make it work. In your case, I would check all wires to the motor and hall sensor for the continuity.
Hi there. i have a samsung wf316, i bought years ago and it was store safely and well protected.
I Just installed and check all the posibbles problems or mistakes, but i have a little detail:
I have no error code, well preause, filters are new of course, spin is in high, soil leve normal, but the machine in normal mode works fine until the spin stage, if reaches 9 minutes left, but sometimes jumps to 13 minutes and start over the spin cycle, sometimes after 15 or 20 minutes jumps from 9 minutes to 2 minutes and the work finish normal, here’s the detail: sometimes from 9 minutes goes to 8 minutes, and the full spin starts for 7 more minutes, this is the part i always expect and want because the clothes finishes almost complete dry, otherwise the clothes (light or weight) finish kind of wet.
As a another detail, i see in the spin cycle starts to increse the spin reaches a certain point of speed (vibrates a lot sometimes) and stop, and it do it a few more times i dont know if this is normal but i just mention anyway.
Any suggestions?.
It detects the vibration in the floor?, if it is, whay can i do?. Thank you very much.
usually when time fluctuating on the spin cycle, its either unbalanced load or something triggering vibration sensor. Check all steps mentioned in the article, especially wire harness behind the washer
Hi i have samsung eco bubble front load machine and it has stopped and not spinning at all i have checked the filter and the pipe they seem fine. Can it be its belt??
Plz help asap thanks
Did you check Door lock? Does it drain without any issues?
Hi I have a wa50r5400a Samsung active jet top load washer. Yesterday morning I washed my bedding like usual but this time it was showing a Ub error so I took everything out calibrated it then tried again and no luck. I took it out and washed the rest of my laundry and had no issues. Tried washing the bedding again and same thing Ub code. The water fills up very high and it drains but when I open it it’s still wet. I don’t think it’s draining on the fastest setting. Why is this happening only with my bedding laundry?
Ub means unbalanced load.. As you know bedding stuff soaking a lot of water. Try half load of bedding stuff
Hi Eugene, I have same model as above wa50r5400a Samsung active jet top load washer about 2 years old. Washed some bedding, not too much. During spin cycle the timer stopped at 14 minutes. I’ve tried just the spin cycle to remove water and pump makes noise and i can hear some water draining but not a whole lot. Same thing happens, timer stops at 14 minutes ends with a chime and nothing else afterwards. I’ve tried vacuuming out the pump, no change. No other codes given. I’ve re-calibrated spin but it doesn’t spin very fast, feels like there is still water in the bottom of the drum. I will pull out washer and check the pump tomorrow. Anything else you would recommend? Thank you kindly, Pat.
I think its unbalanced, thats why not able to run a full spin. try to put fewer clothes or bedding and see if it will make any difference.
Hi
I am having an issue with a samsung top load washer model wa48h7400aw/a2 it doesnt spin the drum, tryed it several times it would stop at 9 min. and then do nothing no codes also tryed running it in the spin cycle nothing same thing wont advance no codes, I unplugged the unit plugged it back in and it ran threw the spin cycle. any ideas.
Thank You for your help
So, after resetting power it works ok now? For me, it sounds like control board issue
Hi
My Samsung eco bubble cannot complete a full cycle on any programme, it works for 2 to 3 mins then stops. The drum tries to turn 4 or 5 times then gives up and stops.
If I want to replace the broken plastic bracket for a WF45K6500AV/A2 do you know what the part number or name is? I’m having difficulty on the parts diagrams to locate the part.
Here is Wire harness Just so you know, you can’t get just a bracket, you need to get the whole wire harness with that plastic bracket
Hi I have a Samsung front load washer model WF50k7500AV. I get a Ub error code around 6 min left on the spin cycle. The machine just turns slowly and you can hear one of the pumps running for 20-30 minutes stuck on the 6 minute mark and gives a Ub error code. The machine never enters high speed spin. I have replaced the drain pump and circulation pump but these were not the problem. I have run the calibration cycle and still Ub error code. I have also run the smart install automatic test and it complete them all but at 10 it just blinks and never finishes the test. Any ideas appreciated.
Is your washer with VRT technology? Then check wiring to the hall sensor. Also, make sure nothing bang on the drum(like loose drain hose or white bracket on the back) cause it may trigger vibration sensor and washer will try again and again
Yes the washer is with VRT technology. I replaced the hall sensor but it still is going to 6 minutes with the drain pump constantly running until it throws Ub code. I ran the smart install auto test and no banging at high speed also double checked the hoses. My next thought is to replace the inverter control board unless there is something else you recommend I’d really like to place my multimeter on some complements and get to the problem with some greater certainty. Thanks for the help
Having issues with my Samsung top loading washing machine. It almost always stops and won’t go into spin cycle, or it continuously runs water and time is stopped. Sometimes I can turn off and put in spin cycle. Not sure colorso are actually getting clean. Throwing codes like 8c. Please help!
Seems like by filling with water again and again, washer trying to distribute clothes evenly , prior spin cycle. Its related with unbalanced load
Hi. I have a Samasung diamond drum WA13V9 top loader washing machine. It get stuck on the spin cycle. Takes about 2 to 3 minutes to start spinning. The timer will also stay the same during that time. I’ve cleaned the filter. Tested and cleaned the spin motor everything. Please help
Just make sure the washer is draining properly. If it does, then you need to call for appliance repair guy to take a look at. You have to have some knowledge to troubleshoot this kind of issues. Sorry
I have a samsung wf350. Front load. I’m having trouble with the washer not spinning. It just wobbles back and forth like it’s trying to spin. When I put the washer in spin test mode the wheel in the back spins through uh gh all rpms but the drum doesnt move. Do you have e any clue what this could be
The bolt which holds direct-drive motor lose or teeth on the shaft are worn out.
Front load washer works fine during wash cycle but when it’s time to spin the water out, you can hear water draining but machine doesn’t spin
Does it drain without any issue? Can you open the door and see if any water left in the drum. Washer will not proceed to the spin cycle if its not draining properly
I have the same issue! Apparently someone said it could be the mother board… did securing the bracket help?
Hi. My sumsung machine model WF70F5E5P4W is not spinning on some cycles. The machine takes the powder, pours water and it cant spin after then. tries to spin for 10 min and then stops completely. No error codes. How can this be fixed?
Hi Karnie, You need to check wires behind the washer which goes to the speed sensor on the direct drive motor as it says in the post. if you don’t have skills how to check wiring with a multimeter, then call appliance repair tech
Hi. I got my Samsung eco bubble washing machine today. I’ve put 4 towels in it along with a bath mat, but it’s getting stuck on 9 mins on the spin. How can I get my machine to spin and get my stuff out of the machine.
Hi Michelle, machine get stuck on 9min and then jump back to 20min or so? Do you have any error codes?
Hi… this is what my washer does. From 9 minutes then jumps to 20 minutes before finishing up. What should I do?
Hi, everything explained in the article. Check white plastic bracket on the back of the washer, it shouldn’t be loose
My Samsung top loader automatic washing machine doesn’t spin, the diamond drum is not agitating
There are many possible causes for that. Could you give more details?
It’s a Samsung top loader automatic washing machine WA80G5, when switching on, the Spin sign doesn’t show a light, but the wash and rinse have a light, and the cold and hot water signs also doesn’t light.
Dont know what is could be, if you can make a video and upload it to Youtube, then maybe i will have some ideas.
Hi, I’ve got a Samsung top loader 13kg. It show me code 5E. We cleaned all filters and after that it still wouldnt spin. We unplugged the machine, put it on its side and adjusted the v-belt which was very loose. Now, as soon as you power on, the bottom impellor starts running continouisly even without programming a wash cycle. What could the problem be? Thanks
Hi Gerry, seems like its related with vibration sensor. Check harness and white plastic bracket as it shown here https://howtofixit.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Samsung-washer-VRT-problem-fixed-585×439.jpg
If its broken, you need to secure bracket. This bracket hits the drum trigering vibration sensor
Is that on front or back of washer?
On the back
Thank you! Spot on. Removed the back on Samsung VRT Plus and bracket had cracked at the screw. Also, ground wire was cut , probably from vibration after
bracket was loose. Zip tied bracket as you suggested and reattached ground.
Very cheaply made product-done with Samsung. Maybe TV’s but not washers.
Made in China………………….
Thank you again!
You are welcome
Exact same problem with our 3 year old Samsung washer! Thanks Eugene!!!
My samsung washer model wf448aap/Xaa 02. Won’t final spin in all cycles . Sometimes I have to hunt for a cycle that works. Any ideas ?
My washer want wash the red key just flashes all the time.
I have a top loading Samsung automatic machine(11kg)
The machine stops before spinning cycle and doesn’t work further. I have changed the capacitor and cleaned the drainpipe too but no results. However after not using the machine for 8 hours and directly selecting the spinner it did work but while using the spinner after The washer it does not work.
Please suggest the solution.
